Those eight hospitals contain a total of 1,467 beds, employ more than 4,800 Mississippi residents and provide an annual payroll in excess of $130,000,000. Currently, one of every five babies born in Mississippi is born in an HMA hospital.

The four hospitals located in the Jackson metro area, Central Mississippi Medical Center, Rankin Medical Center, River Oaks Hospital and Woman's Hospital at River Oaks are known collectively as Preferred Hospitals of Metro Jackson.
